AFRICA FUTURE & OUR MISSION:
Our mission is to be the best in the world in micro hydro electric and water resource management: by evolving innovative damless hydroelectric and water transfer technology. We create Today’s Tall Tree Nurseries to support Micro Finance for women farmers and their families using the Carbon Tax Fund, a new form of foreign aid. We export Mechanization into Africa for more productive agriculture for a Brighter Future in Africa.
In contrast with Asia, which has seen huge increases in agricultural yields in the last 40 years, sub-Saharan Africa’s track record has been abysmal. Food production is actually 10% lower today than in 1960, yet over this time period the aggregate world food production has increased by 145%.
Climate change could push prices up by 130%. Rice tripled in price over a period of four months, wheat doubled and corn rose 46 per cent. This world food crisis of high grain import prices, on top of high fuel prices, has placed an acute economic squeeze on consumers in developing countries.
People move in search of better opportunities elsewhere and jobs!! The high rate of urban migration in Africa, particularly among young people, is largely because the rural economy – which is predominantly agrarian – has been stagnant. These young people are not fleeing from farming as an occupation. They are fleeing from poverty!!
AGRICULTURAL GOVERNMENT SPENDING
Agriculture can deliver 2-3 times the return on investment, in terms of improved economic well-being, as other sectors: it represents 32% of Africa’s GDP; and employs 65% of the working population. Most importantly, it is the sector where the poorest on the continent are most likely to be engaged in their struggle to survive. Some African countries’ improved economic performance over the last 10 to 15 years indicates that they do have the potential to become net exporters of food. If we transform the agriculture sector, we will transform the African continent!
The best part of two decades there has been a consensus on aid in Africa – namely that the state should not subsidize smallholder agriculture. Nearly 30 percent of World Bank lending once went to agricultural modernization, but now it is just 8 percent. China’s dramatic reduction of poverty has been achieved by growth primarily in the agricultural sector, not the industrial. Since the late 1970s, improvements in technology and infrastructure helped boost production in smallholder agriculture, with farmers’ incomes rising at more than 7% a year. The result is that 200 million small-scale farmers working an average of 0.6 hectare of land are now feeding a population of 1.3 billion.
The Maputo declaration of 2003 pledged African countries to 10% of government spending for agriculture. This took place at a conference of African Ministers for Agriculture, chaired a meeting at FAO headquarters. Thirteen years later, many African countries have not even reached 4%.
Malawi’s defied these teachings and put in place a series of policy measures that increased agricultural development and overall economic development at the cost of 16% of government spending.
During one of the biggest challenges is the issue of land tenure. It is difficult to negotiate adequate secure tenure and get permission from all of the relevant authorities. Living Water Microfinance Inc. has been focusing its efforts, especially for women, who generally are not allowed to own land.
The Gene Revolution: Africa Future
The Green Revolution of the 1960s and ’70s is now being overtaken by “the Gene Revolution” — the development and spread of GM crops across the world. The uptake of genetically modified (GM) crops is the fastest adoption rate of any crop technology, increasing from 1.7 million hectares in 1996 to 148 million hectares in 2010. The USDA says 94% of soy and 75% of all corn grown in the U.S. is genetically modified.
African countries such as South Africa, Burkina Faso and Egypt have adopted GM crops. Other countries such as Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania are preparing to start field trials. Farming giants like China, Brazil and India have embraced biotech crops. And even the European Commission (EC) is acknowledging that existing GM crops do not carry any unique risks. In a recent study, the EC has found that GM crops are at least as safe for consumers and the environment as conventionally bred plant varieties, and sometimes safer. It also concluded that GM crops could help developing countries meet their food needs while addressing the challenges of climate change in a sustainable way.
Africa is steadily joining the biotechnology revolution. South Africa’s GM crop production stood at 2.0 million hectares (4.94 million acres) in 2010.
Anti-GMO activists are still engaged in stopping this GM effort. The European Parliament voted that calls on the G7 countries not to support the use of genetically modified (GMO) seeds in Africa, despite the dangers of food security and poverty levels on the continent.
As reported in a New York Times article, the ridiculously high prices of seeds and pesticides are causing farmers to make less money than ever. Additionally, as pests and weeds become increasingly immune to insecticides, farmers have to spend more and more money on chemicals. And let’s not forget, they are also legally required to buy new seeds every season unless they want to be sued or forced to burn all their plants.
Currently, just three mega companies control over half of the global seed market, which has caused prices to skyrocket. For example, the average price of planting an acre of soybeans has gone up 325 percent since 1995.
So, If GMOs Aren’t the Answer…
So, if GMOs aren’t the answer, how are we to feed the world’s rapidly growing population on a poor farmer’s budget?
It all depends on a country’s ability to adapt and adopt an ethical, political and economic challenge and to use the knowledge
Current efforts to expand finances to meet smallholder demand are not sufficient: innovation, progressive partnerships, and smart subsidies have the potential to change the growth of the Africa’s smallholder farmers.
Living Water MicroFinance Inc. proposes to begin important changes and it all revolves around TREES:
Africa is well braced to become the Future Food Basket of the World and Africa will do it with TREES and because it will help solve the Global Climate Crisis.
The Beauty of Trees: more African crops & food security
Without modern agricultural science, food production in Africa has fallen ominously behind population growth. Total agricultural production per capita today has fallen 19 percent below the level of 1970. Increasingly, Africans must depend on imported food aid.
In Africa, it is generally agreed that poor soil management – along with poor water management – is most greatly affecting yields. Researchers from the World Agroforestry Centre say poor soil fertility is one of the main obstacles to improving food production in Africa. Despite chemical fertilizers having been on the market for more than half a century, farmers appeared reluctant or unable to buy them.
There is an old saying—if you cut down a tree, plant another one. Without trees in the landscape, you cannot have a sustainable farming system. Certain plants, such as legumes, have bacteria growing in their root hairs that convert it into a form that plants can use. This form of nitrogen is known as “GREEN MANURE” and is a nutrient that helps plants, such as food crops, to grow. The trees fix nitrogen and improve the soil; the leaves can be fed to livestock; the crops then benefit greatly in subsequent years. These deep penetrating tap roots can secure a good water supply even in dry years. Tree roots do go much deeper than crop roots, so it is recycling nutrients and water from deeper reaches.
Farmlands without trees become exposed to harsh climatic factors. Trees protect farm crops, ameliorate climatic conditions, lower down water table, redistribute nutrients in the soil profile and provide many other fringe benefits like fruit, nuts and foliage.
The concept of an Agro-forestry farm allows the farmer to support herself with crops while the trees of an orchard eventually become productive between 1.5 to 5 years:
An irrigated tree plantation shows that the total cost of growing trees was $80 per acre and total income received was $24 per acre, which made pure high timber forestry an unprofitable enterprise. Agro-forestry on the other hand gives almost 200 to 300 per cent more returns.
- Net Present Value/tree to absorb carbon emissions over a 50 year span: $2.59 at $15/ton of CO2
- Size of Acreage of rectangular African farm: 1.5 acre: 132’ x 270’
- 500 Trees on a small African farm (365 fruit, nut and nitrogen fixing/foliage trees and 135 foliage trees to act as a fence): 13 rows of 28 trees less 30% of farm for living space and roads
- 50 Replacement trees required during the lifetime of orchard
- 135 foliage trees support one cow and several goats.
- Number of 1.5 acre African Farms: 227 farms to support rabbit-fish colony farm
- The Cost of the Tree Nursery and Rabbit Fish Farm: $210,000
Crop need to be planted for subsistence while trees, which are planted at the same time, need 1.5 to 5 years to produce. Sometimes there is too much competition between the crops and the trees. We develop a new management system where the trees are cut very low to the ground at the time you are planting the crop so then there was no light competition. The trees go into a dormant state when you cut them like this, so the root system is not competing straight away for the nutrients, so the crop is free to become established. The trees only really start to come out of the dormant phase when the crop is already tall.
Together the rabbit farming and fish farming introduce inexpensive fertilizer for the tree nursery. Living Water Microfinance Inc. supports rabbit fish colony farming. Rabbit Farming does not need large tracks of land. According to an FAO Report:
- 30% of the world land is used by livestock pasture.
- 33% of all grains are fed to livestock
- 70% of all soy beans is fed to livestock
- 70% of all deforestation is used by livestock
- 33% of all water pollution is caused by livestock production
- 18% of all greenhouse gases come from livestock.
One of the most sustainable forms of meat protein to farm is fish. For every pound of meat produced, fish consume less than 15% of the feed required by land animals such as cattle. Farmed fish are a staple not just for industrialized countries, but even more so for emerging nations of the world. Aquaculture is emerging as an important substitute for wild fish whose stocks are being depleted at an alarming rate.
All irrigated plantations should be leased out to local landless farmers for agro forestry practices with the condition that each farmer will grow at least 333 trees per acre on her farmland. This farmer can also start a rabbit farm of her own by trading with the Colony Rabbit Fish Farm: 2 adult rabbits for 4 kits.
Let us analyze the average of ten polluting power plant: 20 million tons/year. In 10- 15 years it will be polluting at the rate of 200 (20 x 10 years) to 300 (20 x 15 years) million tons/year. During the same period of time our agroforest will soak up: 1.09 billion to 1.5 billion tons CO2 emissions. That translates into allowing 5 to 5.5 polluting power plants in the United States to adjust to more sustainable power systems over 10 – 15 years. We can identify ten landscapes for our agroforest efforts, which will address 50 to 55 polluting power plants.

BILLIONS OF CHRISTIANS CAN’ T ALL BE WRONG!
Christianity is not a philosophy, but it is a relationship with God, your Creator, in Christ TODAY. It is not knowledge of abstract principles.
HOW DO WE KNOW THIS?
Some Christian disciples use deliverance to deliver away evil spirits influencing people. These evil spirits cause depression, addictions and illness through all forms of stress.
2. COMPLETE SENSE OF PEACE?
After you have been delivered from evil influences, you will have a definite physical experience of a complete sense of peace.
Once you experience a physical sense of peace because of deliverance, you know that you will be healed. This helps you build up your faith, which is very crucial: No faith! No healing!
Some Christian disciples have the gift of healing. Only the Name of Jesus Christ makes healing and deliverance possible.
THE WHOLE FAMILY BENEFITS
In the end, one Christian conversion will benefit the whole family. The gifts of the Holy Spirit of healing and deliverance will help the whole family. A prayer of deliverance of evil spirits will leave any member of the family with a complete sense of peace immediately. A prayer of healing from a Christian disciple produces 80% healing. The remaining healing comes from continued prayer of praise and thanksgiving until all the healing is complete. This healing comes from the Holy Spirit through the power in the Name of Jesus Christ. No other god or deity or doctor uses this power. This proves the TRUTH OF CHRISTIANITY.
God divinely inspired the BIBLE . How do we know? Each of eight accurate predictions shows a high probability mathematically. The probability of one individual fulfilling eight prophecies have odds of 1 in 10 17 (1 in 100,000,000,000,000,000). Jesus Christ fulfilled all prophecies, therefore the Bible MUST BE TRUE.
The Old Testament indicates another 40 astonishing predictions.
Christianity experiences stunning growth—from approximately 3.8 million adherents in China in 1956 to an estimated 87 to 100 million Christians today.
HOW IS JESUS STILL ALIVE TODAY?
Jesus is alive today! He heals today (through His followers) and in many cases it is realized immediately. How else can you explain the explosion of Christianity, the world’s largest religion, on earth: 2.2 billion adherents, nearly a third (31 percent) of all 6.9 billion people on Earth.
Christians know and feel His Presence; they communicate with Him personally; Christian prayers are always answered.
This author has been given the Gift of Healing only because he is a Christian Lay Missionary, who travels two to three places every year. On his last trip to Columbia he successfully transferred his Gift to his Spanish translators, who were able to heal as he did. He has healed Muslims to their great surprise.
He also delivers away evil spirits along with their healing. All those who are delivered from evil spirits feel a complete physical sense of peace.
DREAMS AND VISIONS
God can give a message to those non-Christians to change their heart. God knows faith will be developed eventually. God will come to you in the form of dreams or visions. So be sensitive to any dreams or visions, when you ask God for it earnestly.
HAVE YOU EVER WONDERED HOW TO BECOME A CHRISTIAN?
- Christians don’t shout, “I live a clean life!” Christians whisper “I feel lost, but now God found me and God forgives me.”
- Christians don’t speak with pride. They confess that they stumble and need Christ to be their guide.
- Christians don’t say,” I’m strong.” They say they try to be strong because they need strength.
- Christians don’t brag about success, but they admit that they fail and they need God to clean the mess.
- Christians don’t claim to be perfect, but God still believes in them.
- Christians still feel the sting of pain. They have their share of headaches but they still call upon His Name.
- Christians are not holier than others. They are simple sinners who receive God’s unbelievable Grace.
Christianity on a Table Napkin:
“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9
God the Father will wipe every tear from our eyes, and there shall be no more death or mourning, crying out or pain. We will be like Him, for we will see Him as He is The Holy Spirit will have made all things new. Eternal joy will begin. “For the Mighty One has done great things for me— holy is His name.” Luke 1: 49
Are we not like Barabbas who was justly condemned for murder, but saved by the innocent Jesus on the cross? Are we not like the adulterous woman, deserving of death by stoning, to whom Jesus says, “I do not condemn you”? And Jesus saved them both. In fact, Jesus came to earth specifically to look for and save those who were lost, like you.
“Come now, let us settle the matter,” says the LORD, “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool”. Isaiah 1:18
You may need some counseling with a pastor, priest or competent Christian worker, who will introduce you to a Short Course on Who is Jesus? Start by reading a short biography of Jesus in the Gospel of Luke. Read several verses before going to bed and read the same verse upon arising. He will defend you from attacks of the enemy when you ask Him.
